Billa Nanra: a Peace Education Programme success story

Rajinder Nanra, known as Billa, lived through cycles of addiction, imprisonment and probation year after year until he chanced upon The Peace Education Programme while serving time at HMP Leeds.
After completing the programme, Billa was inspired to continue his personal development and help others do the same. He went on to volunteer with the programme, trained as a facilitator, and then returned to his former prison to deliver Peace Education courses—sharing his experience and commitment to rehabilitation and peace.
In his Youtube video he describes how he found stability and self-trust in his journey that began with the Peace Education Programme. Click here to watch “Slaying the Dragon”.
“It is important to hear about the kind of inner change that helped me get out of the system for good, and as a better person. Re-offending rates are high and I hope my story shows that change is possible. If I can do it, I know anybody can.
"The Peace Education Programme was fundamental in my journey: it holds up a mirror so participants can see themselves as human beings, which isn’t often the case in the prison system. Now my drug of choice is happiness, joy and life.”
